Getting Started With a Therapist
The Process
01 — Evaluation/Assessment
The evaluation is a two hour in-person assessment that includes standardized testing, clinical observations, parent interviews, interviews with disciplines involved with your child, and a school visit if necessary. This gives us a baseline that therapy can start from and allows for me to see progress over time. All of this information will be put into a confidential written report.
02 — Parent meeting
The one hour parent meeting is scheduled in person or by video chat (currently mandatory due to the COVID-19 policy). We will review the findings of the written report, review sensory processing and sensory integration concepts, collaborate on objectives, and review home program ideas.
03 — setting a schedule
To decide on what frequency of therapy is appropriate for your child (weekly, biweekly) and what day and time of the week works best with the family schedule.
04 — Initial paperwork
Please download and review the following documents. Complete all questions, sign and submit to our team after consulting with Allison.
